Freshman Phenom Madeline Nolan off to an Impressive Start
Emma Edwards

Introducing Madeline Nolan, a star player on the Manchester girls soccer team, who dominated the field with an impressive 10 goals. Her skill and determination made her a valuable asset to the team this season. Let’s look into Nolan’s freshman year and discover what makes her such a force to be reckoned with on the soccer field.
Nolan scored her first varsity goal against Lakewood, which was the second game of the season. Later on in the season, Nolan’s goals were mainly deciding factors of results of the games, scoring 2 game winning goals. One game winner versus Southern and the other versus Raritan. Nolan had one of her best performances of the season versus Point Pleasant Beach (#1 seed) in the Coaches Tournament. Nolan put away 1 goal and 1 assist in the first half and 1 goal in the second half, setting Manchester at 4 and Point Pleasant Beach at 2 and succeeding Manchester into the semi-finals for the tournament. Following Madeline’s astonishing week, she was named Thrive Week 5 B-South Player of the Week and Thrive Week 5 Shore Conference Player of the Week. Nolan’s drive through the middle of the field will continue to be a key asset for the Hawks for the next 3 years.
