Delayed Start vs. Early Dismissal; Considerations for Rising Seniors

For rising seniors comes the possibility of delayed start or early dismissal. With the option for an 8:41 start or a 12:09 dismissal comes many pros and cons.

Pros and Cons of delayed start:

Pro:

  • Extra sleep
  • Less traffic to school
  • Shorter day

Con:

  • Miss period 1
  • empty credit

 

Pros and Cons of early dismissal: 

Pro:

  • Get off earlier (more time to go home, go to work, athletes get ready).
  • No traffic leaving school or beating the buses
  • Shorter day

Con:

  • Miss period 4
  • empty credit
  • Athletes must return back 

 

As scheduling for the 2024-2025 school year is underway, any current juniors interested in delayed start or early dismissal must pick up an application from guidance for eligibility.

The application is due May 10, 2024.
