Tom Holland will be returning as our beloved Spider-Man in his fourth movie in the ‘Home’ franchise. Many things are still unconfirmed, but we do know that the president of Marvel Studios has confirmed the movie. The cliffhanger of the last Spiderman movie, Spiderman: No Way Home, left us on, is unclear on what this plot will follow. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, states in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “All I will say is that we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now”.
If you take a closer look at the last movie, No Way Home, we get a teaser at the end, where a piece of the symbiote, Venom, is left behind. What we know about Venom is that he needs to find a suitable host that allows him to survive. This could mean that we are getting another villain for Holland’s Spiderman to fight. As well as M.J. and Ned reuniting with Peter. If you take a look at the scene where Peter attempts to talk to the pair, you can see the slightly weird look she gives Peter, hinting at her starting to remember him. This plotline could work out since he still has not carried out his promise to them; Make them remember him. This could be a promising part of the plot as it has been confirmed that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon have been confirmed to be returning to the cast.
With the trio returning, this also could hint at something happening to Dr. Strange’s spell he had cast, connecting to the future multiverse movies, which are Avengers-based. The future movies, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, isolate Spiderman, allowing him to focus on his installation of being a superhero.
Although this villain is making an appearance for the first time, Kingpin could be another villain-friendly neighborhood Spiderman could be fighting. Kingpin, who is showing up in the new show, Daredevil: Born Again, could tease a rise to power, foreshadowing that he might conflict with Spiderman. Not only will this be another villain but also another cross-over with Daredevil himself. Sony Pictures’ Tom Rothman, as well as Kevin Feige, have both confirmed that there will be another cross-over. Without the specific details, this could lead to a debate between Marvel fans and who this crossover will include.
Although not likely, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Mcquire, have both stated their interest in appearing in their respective Spidermen roles. In an interview with Marvel.com, Tobey stated, If these guys called me and said, ‘Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?’ or ‘Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?’ it would be a ‘yes!’ Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?”
As Marvel fans await to see and hear, any definite details about the film, they are left curious and excited to see what Marvel, Sony Pictures, and the cast can do. Will this film be another success for the franchise or leave fans disappointed? The only thing we can do is sit and wait.
