On October 4, 2022, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge made baseball history.

Since 1961, no player in the American League has hit more than 61 home runs in a single season.

That record held by Roger Maris stood for 61 years until the first inning of game two of a double header between the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers when Aaron Judge marched his way into the history books.

Everyone in the stadium rose to their feet in hopes of witnessing history as Judge stepped up to the plate to face 27-year-old pitcher Jesus Tinoco on the mound for the Rangers. With the count 1-1, with Judge’s parents and his wife in the stands, and with the entire baseball world watching, Judge sent his 62nd home run over the left field wall.

The Yankees poured out of the dugout in celebration with both Yankees and Rangers on their feet in a moment and a season Judge will never forget.

Shortly after the home run, Roger Maris Jr. tweeted out, “Congratulations to Aaron Judge and his family on Aaron’s historic home run number 62! It has definitely been a baseball season to remember. You are all class and someone who should be revered. For the MAJORITY of the fans, we can now celebrate a new CLEAN HOME RUN KING!!”

Judge has undoubtedly had one of the best professional baseball seasons of all time.

His journey of a lifetime continues with the New York Yankees in the postseason, where they will  hopefully win a world championship.
