As Halloween slowly approaches, you might find yourself wanting to get into that spooky season spirit. Twists to pumpkin carving, spectacular costume ideas, hangout ideas, and the famous Ghost photoshoot.

One of my favorite things to do with my family is to carve pumpkins. This is one of the more known ones but here are some twists to add to the fun spooky tradition. Try going on Pinterest to find some unique or hard pumpkin designs. Or maybe add some competition to it. Start a pumpkin carving contest between your family and friends and see who wins.

Stores are always selling costumes, but sometimes it’s more fun to make them yourself. Get an idea of what you want to be and get supplies. Thrifting is a good way to get a costume that is affordable yet creative. Find a group of friends who would be willing to do a group costume. Some great ideas for group costumes are Oompa Loompas, Mario Kart, Alvin and the Chipmunks, or The Sanderson Sisters  from Hocus Pocus

Throw a Halloween Movie Marathon! Have everyone bring their favorite Halloween movie and some snacks according to the movie. For example, if someone is being Scream, then they would bring something like Ghostface pizza, or a Ghostface cheese platter. Or if someone is bringing Nightmare on Elm Street, have someone bring the iconic soul pizza!

Another fun thing to find is a haunted house or haunted maze. I recommend doing this with friends, as it is more fun. You can race around and see how many times you can get through without getting scared or see how many times you can scare your friends.

And saving the best for last, the Ghost photoshoot. You have heard of this famous trend. If you haven’t, here’s a recap. You wear a white sheet with any pair of sunglasses over it. You can wear anything underneath, as long as the shirt is short-sleeved. As it looks better if you see bare arms. The sheet needs to be at least to your knees, or lower. It gives the effect that you are an actual ghost. You pose any way you want. You can take pictures of you doing everyday activities, or just you standing around.

Halloween is a fun holiday all around. You can do so many things with friends and family. I can’t wait to see all the spooky things Manchester comes up with this year! Happy hauntings!
