The old Arnold Estate, commonly known as “The Conjuring house,” is considered one of the most haunted houses in the world. It has even had movies made on it based on the true stories that happened there, and is a popular tourist spot for those with a taste for all things  paranormal.

Paranormal rumors aside, this house has a rich history. The official website for The Conjuring house is a goldmine of information about the history behind the Old Arnold Estate. “The Conjuring House land precedes its colonial records by thousands of years while it was occupied by the Nipmuc and other local tribes prior to Roger Williams purchasing the land…”

The house (as we know it to be today,) was completed in 1736, meaning it has withstood famous historical events such as The Revolutionary War, and The Civil War. This also means that the house was made 40 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

This house has undoubtedly become a ghost story, but equally, it stands as an integral historical monument. That being said, it is fair to say that the house proudly embodies its haunting reputation.
