Boys Tennis Serving Into The New Season

Sports Preview 2023

Alexis Cervenak, Yearbook Co-Editor-in-Chief

The Boys Tennis team is excited for their upcoming season, they hope to grow as a team and improve their skills. They plan to advance further in the Ocean County Tournament compared to years past. With team Senior Captains Calvin Spicer and Angelo Terrero leading the charge.

Coach Wood says, “The best part of the season to this point has been the work and effort that the players are putting in on a daily basis”. They are driven to make a splash into the tournaments they play in this year. They want to make this year one to remember because their team is predominantly Seniors, out of the twelve players on their team six of them are Seniors. But they do not plan to let that stop them. As their Senior members pass down the knowledge and continuously give advice to their other teammates.

They have an unbreakable bond they became “..a family within the first week”, says Senior player Andrew Perez. After a team loss they left each other up, their bus ride home lightened up their mood. Though they are small, according to Sophomore Luka Costa-Seraphini, “We’re all friends before teammates and we’re not scared to build each other up — it definitely glues our team together”.

This year’s team roster is Calvin Spicer at 1st Singles, Noah Peslak at 2nd Singles, Angelo Terreo at 3rd Singles, Luka Costa-Seraphini and Ian Spicer at 1st Doubles, Mark Taylor and Patrick Pagdatoon at 2nd Doubles.

As the senior players leave their legacy on the courts they remember “Tennis in Manchester is unlike any other.”
