To Dream Of An Epiphany

A Poem

Abby Peluso, Contributor, Lit Mag

I want someone

to have a revelation

about me.

An epiphany!

Like in the movies

when they pause,

dramatically.

I want someone

to realize something

they didn’t know.

No!

That they always knew.

Yes.

It will grow like a tingle

rattling the cage

around their heart

Shattering their mind

into parts.

It will be

contradictory.

Such a shock, but —

they always knew.

Never had they pictured me

in a light

other than a blue.

Instead

now a red.

A burgundy that flows

through

their heart and mine,

too!

Maybe they’ll shout:

“It’s you! It’s you!

Oh!—

How it’s always been you,

if only I knew!”
