Skin type is an important factor in deciding what makeup to purchase. If your makeup is coming out cakey, oily, or even dry-looking, it could just be what you’re using. Different products work for different skin types and figuring out what kind of skin you have can help you find what works best for you. There’s oily, dry, and combination skin, which is a mixture of both oily and dry skin. If you have oily skin you may find your foundation looks heavy and leaves you with an unwanted shine throughout the day. If you have dry skin, your foundation could be flaky, and easy to crease even after setting it with powder. Combination skin is the most common. Having combination skin means your face can be dry around the center of your face and oily in your T- zone.

If you have these struggles, there are easy solutions to them. Some brands create makeup products specifically for these 3 skin types. When purchasing a product take a look at the bottle. Most foundations and concealers will have a print of which skin type it is for so the user can know which kind would most benefit them. If you take a look at the Fit Me product line from Maybelline, you’ll see they have different foundations that each say what they help. Using a CC cream (a color correction cream) is a good option if you want a more natural alternative, as it provides a natural finish with minimal coverage to just cover things like fine lines and small blemishes on your face.

Investing in a good quality setting spray will help if your makeup rubs off easily and doesn’t last more than a couple of hours. Drug-store makeup is a perfectly fine choice if you don’t want to spend much money on products.

If you prefer makeup that is lightweight with a more natural finish, try a tinted moisturizer. A tinted moisturizer is great for light coverage and has less pigment than foundation. Using a moisturizer is recommended for summer when you want just a little natural glow.

If your lipstick and blush runs fast and fade quickly, try out a cheek or lip stain. It’s a product that you apply just like lip gloss and when it dries you peel it off and get a natural tint. With the wide shade range too, finding one that compliments you is easy.

There are so many inventive products out right now, you just have to find one that works best for you and your skin type.
