As the fall season comes to an end, the winter season is coming upon us quickly. The Manchester Girls Basketball team is already looking to start training.
One of their all-star players, Devyn Quigley, recently committed to North Carolina State, and is looking to get the girls into a league before the season starts. Quigley claims, “Everyone is ready this year and we want to show everyone we are that top 10 team in the shore and we want to win big games this year”.
Quigley believes that this season will be a hefty but major year for the lady hawks and their early training will be beneficial. They have a couple of freshmen this year that are going to be a big help for the Hawks this season. One incoming freshman who is going to be a huge help to the Lady Hawks this upcoming season is Madeline Nolan. Nolan is looking to help the team this year in points and will be stepping up as a point guard.
Last season the girls were 17-11 and 9-1 in B-South also being the B-South camps. Quigley led the team in Points with 977 as well as Marisiya Goins, who helped out with 113 points last season. The upcoming senior, Zionna Short, had an enormous season last year, with 222 rebounds scored.
These Lady Hawks are hungry for yet another B-South win and hope for a state title this year. Head Coach, David Beauchemin mentions how big the offseason was for the lady hawks. Coach Beauchemin expresses, “Our offseason was crucial and we have already shown improvement from there.” He also mentions that he wants to build upon what the girls had learned last year because they can do so much more.
The Lady Hawks Basketball team is looking forward to the upcoming season and can’t wait to see what it brings!
