Back To June is Manchester Township’s newest hit rock and roll group, composed of Gabriel Calafati and Owen Jeffers (current MTHS students), Anthony Raimondi and Benjamin Said (MTHS graduates), and Kevin Ramirez (Ocean County College). They formed in June 2023 and have accumulated both a steady fanbase and local interest from Ocean County’s music scene.
With regard to the band’s main musical influences, sophomore Gabriel Calafati said, “We are still trying to find our sound as originally we started as an indie rock/indie pop band. As we continue to develop as a band our sound continues to change, but we have been going towards an alternative rock/soft grunge sound. All five of us contribute our own sounds and inspiration to the band but I would say that our main aspirations are based in alt-rock, shoegaze, and indie.”
Current senior and bass guitar player Owen Jeffers stated, “Our group goal moving in the future is to release music that people will like, and hopefully put out stuff people will listen to non stop daily.”
Jeffers added that Back to June will be releasing an EP soon titled Area of Refuge.
On January 14, 2024, Back to June made their live debut at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park. The group had an amazing turnout, with many new fans being added to their close circle.
Back to June will play their next show at 7:00 PM on February 22, 2024 at the “Crossroads” venue in Garwood, New Jersey. The group will open for fellow musician Gabe Rivera.
