Golfers+Ready+to+Swing+on+the+Green

This year, the Manchester Township High School Golf team is looking for a season filled with success, and great fun. Led by varsity team captain Matthew Goldman, and coached by Mr. Tom Paturzo, the team is looking to venture out and gain new scoring records this year, as well as establish unity amongst a very diverse group of players grade and skill level wise.

This years teams key returners are:

  • Matthew Goldman, Senior, 4 Year Varsity
  • James Ruocchio, Sophomore, 2 Year Varsity
  • Mason Smith, Senior, 2 Year Varsity
  • Gabriel Calafati, Sophomore, 2 Year Varsity
  • Michael Mango, Senior, 2 Year Varsity
  • Brett Goldman, Senior, 1 Year Varsity
  • Andrew Lyons, Junior, 2 Year Varsity

The teams set of newcomers are:

  • Michael Ruff, Freshman
  • Giovanni Tripodi, Senior
  • Zeeshan Mahmood, Senior
  • Matthew Rose, Senior
  • Daniel Staples, Sophomore

When asked about how he thought this season was going to go, team captain Matthew Goldman answered “I think the team this year is shaping up to be the best we’ve had in the time I’ve had playing for the Hawks golf program.” adding on with “We play a ton of good teams that we can compete with and we have a good chance to break our win total for this year.”

Andrew Lyons, a Junior player and second year varsity member stated “This season looks promising, it’s the first time in years we can seriously contend against some of the big dogs.”

The golf team practices everyday after school at the Pine Ridge Golf Course at Joint Base Mcguire-Dix-Lakehurst in preparation for their steady competition this spring. The group makes sure to work on communication as a team, as well as maintaining skills such as swinging, which is a necessary component to playing the great game that is golf.

The boys will be playing against Barnegat on March 27, as well as Pinelands on March 28. After spring break, the group returns with a matchup against key competitor Donovan Catholic on April 8, as well as returning to Pinelands once more on April 11.

The team has a very busy schedule this year, so we wish them the best of luck in making this season the most rewarding in Manchester golf history. Thank you to all of those who are participating in this wonderful spring sport and good luck to senior golfers on their last season.
