The Field Hockey season is off with a 5-3-1 record, as the season is just beginning.
The team captions this year are seniors Jessica Mayer, Riley McGuire, and Kait Meyers.
According to Coach Maloney, the returning starters for the 2024 season are forwards Madison Pastor, Sarah Walters, and Marisiya Goins; midfielders Jessica Mayer, Adriana Chinappi, Riley McGuire, and Sophia Biondi; defenders Nahiara Sanchez, Kait Meyers, and Jenna Hodapp; and goalkeeper Jade Stavalo.
Being coached by Coach Maloney and assisted by Coach Paturzo, they have a major goal of the season to potentially win in the C-South division, having the first ever field hockey banner in school history.
The team has made many recognizable highlights with so many more to come. The Lady Hawks started off 3-0 with two shutouts against Matawan and Raritan with the third win over Pinelands. Following that, Senior goalkeeper Stavalo, has reached over 100 career saves.
It is also to be greatly recognized that three players made the “Best Players in the Shore Conference To Watch” list on nj.com/app.com.
- Walters for “Top Attackers to Watch”
- McGuire for “Top Midfielder to Watch”
- Biondi for “Top Defenders to Watch”
With many games being left in the season, there are records to be broken. McGuire can break the record for career assists, Goins can tie and/or break the record for career goals, and Stavalo can break the record for career shutouts.
The Lady Hawks team has a very family-like bond. Coach Maloney says “Our team stands out because we are so experienced. Of the 18 girls on the roster, 11 of them are seniors. We have great team chemistry and an overall good environment on the team.”
