Most people are familiar with the Rockefeller Christmas Tree in NYC, but did you know the tree has been a tradition since 1930?
The tree was originally set up by construction workers during the Great Depression. At the time, the tree stood at 20 feet tall, where as today it has reached 100 feet . The original 100-foot spruce tree came from Killingworth, Connecticut, and was donated by Jim and Cathy Thomson.
The 2024 Christmas tree arrived on November 9th, standing at 74 feet tall. It is a Norway spruce from West Stockbridge, Massachusets and is approximately 70 years old.
The Rockefeller tree will be located at Rockefeller Plaza In New York, between 49th and 50th street, and 5th and 6th Avenues. The tree lighting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4th, according to Today.com.
