Ever wanted to watch an outdoor hockey game but are unsure what is to come? Well the Winter Classic is just for you. This game consists of two teams playing in an outdoor arena built in either a football or baseball stadiums. This year the Chicago Blackhawks (12-24-2) hosted the St. Louis Blues (18-17-4) at Wrigley Fields, home of the Chicago Cubs.
This isn’t the first time either of these teams hosted or held the Winter Classic, in fact, this isn’t the first time either of these teams have played each other. Chicago is currently 0-5, while St. Louis is 3-0. The last time each of these teams played each other in the Winter Classic was in 2017, where St. Louis won with a score of 4-1.
Cam Fowler, who got traded to St. Louis from Anaheim on December 14th, played in his 1,000th career game. He became the first player in NHL history to play his 1,000th career game during an outdoor game.
St. Louis ended up victorious with a score of 6-2. Fowler got two goals, first one assisted by Buchnevich and Thomas, while his second goal was assisted by Texier. There were also goals scored by Kyrou (assisted by Neighbours and Holloway), Faulk (assisted by Broberg and Sundqvist), Holloway (assisted by Faulk and Schenn) and Texier (assisted by Faulk and Walker). Chicago had goals scored by Hall (assisted by Donato) and Bertuzzi (assisted by Jones and Bedard).
