Another WWE PLE has come around, and this time there are some non WWE wrestlers are participating in the card thanks to WWE’s partnership with TNA. What is going on with the rivalries that go along with these matches, and why are they occurring?
Match #1: Jordynne Grace vs Roxanne Perez in a singles match
This one was announced fairly recently, with it being revealed on last weeks episode of NXT. The seeds for the rivalry were planted at last year’s TNA Knockout Champion, and they would again cross paths at NXT Battleground. Grace would punch Perez in the face in a promo turned brawl two weeks ago, and thus this match. Due to her being a recent acquisition (only signing to WWE back in January) it is not that crazy to believe that Grace will get a push soon.
Winner: Jordynne Grace
Match #2: Je’Von Evans vs Ethan Page in a New York City Street Fight
Side note, can WWE come up with a singular name for no DQ matches instead of extreme rules this and street fight that? This is set to be an amazing match, as Je’Von Evans and Ethan Page are both insanely over with fans. This rivalry started with Page wanting to “take Evans’ smile” and he would cause Evans a kayfabe broken jaw, then would emerge bloody but victorious in their bout at NXT Vengeance Day. It’s a tough call as for who will win, however Ethan Page has been getting insane heat with his “All Ego” gimmick and therefore will most likely take home the win.
Winner: Ethan Page
Match #3: Giulia vs Stephanie Vaquer in a Winner Takes All match for the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s North American Championship
This rivalry began last year with Giulia’s defeat at the hands of Stephanie Vaquer for the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. They would also square off at AEW Forbidden Door, and Later in the year they would both sign with WWE and start competing in NXT. This a very exciting rivalry spanning across multiple companies and promotions, however currently Giulia is seen by fans as an absolute powerhouse and it would simply be stupid for WWE to kill that momentum.
Winner: Giulia
Match #4: The Hardy Boyz vs Nathan Frazier and Axiom in a tag team match for the TNA World Tag Team Championships
There’s not much history to cover with this one, two weeks ago Nathan Frazier and Axiom cut a promo on an episode of NXT challenging the Hardy Boyz for their TNA World Tag Team Championships. While TNA and WWE do have a positive relationship as evident by their collaborations on multiple occasions, I still doubt that TNA will allow a tag team not signed to them to hold their tag championships.
Winners: The Hardy Boyz
Main Event: Oba Femi vs Moose in a singles match for the NXT Championship
Again, not much history to cover, a couple weeks ago former NFL Lineman and current TNA Champion Moose would show up to challenge NXT Champion Iba Femi for the belt. As with the previous match, it is highly unlikely that one promotion will allow their championship go to a wrestler from another, even if the supposed new champion is with a company that holds a positive relationship with the company of the defeated.
Winner: Oba Femi
