As senior year is slowly coming to an end, there are many exciting events to look forward to. Let’s talk about an event that just happened on May 26–Department Award Night. During this event, exceptional students in classes, and those who achieved 40+ volunteer hours of, were recognized for their success. Awards spanned from World Language, English, math, business, social studies and science.
Department Awards honor students’ hard work and their dedication to consistency throughout the year.
Up next–Senior Prom at the Mainland. As a senior myself, the outcome of prom was amazing! The venue was put together nicely, the music was amazing, the food was good and everyone had a great time.
Since it was everyone’s last high school prom, they wanted to cherish the memories. The dresses and suits matched all of the students so well. Every student looked put together and amazing on their best, final night.
June 2 was Scholarship Night. This night installed everyone in dresses, suits, and nice attire. Throughout the school year, seniors gained access to multiple scholarship opportunities to help financially with their future steps.
Guidance counselor, Mrs. Rachel Kelly, said there was over $200,000 given away in scholarship money. All this money came from fundraising, donor’s own bank accounts, or organizations that had the opportunity to support students’ future goals.
The scholarship money was not just given to those who were attending a 4-year university or college; there were also opportunities for students entering vocational school. Some students received one scholarship, and others received multiple.
The whole point of the night was to celebrate the hard work and time dedicated to essays written, trips to the post office and (endless) trips to the guidance office.

After Senior Prom, and prom weekend, was Senior Field Day. The football field was decorated with bouncy houses, spike ball, volleyball and grilled food, compliments of the teachers.
Everyone had a fun, relaxing day in the sun enjoying their last month of high school. Although it was bitter sweet, it brought people together to enjoy their time. At the end of field day, the school provided all of the seniors and teachers participating in field day with ice cream. There was a variety of chocolate, vanilla, twist and italian ice.
This upcoming Wednesday, June 10, one of the last senior events is being held at Lucky Leo’s in Seaside Heights. Seniors have the opportunity to hand in $20 to get $25 worth of playing money, an opportunity to get free prizes and also get free plays. This is once again, an opportunity for the class of 2026 to gather together one last time before everyone goes their separate ways.
Now, the next event, graduation…
