Top 5 NFL Teams as of 12/9/2022
December 9, 2022
This NFL season has been filled with many ups and downs, with teams rising and falling in rankings all year long. With five weeks remaining in the regular season here are the top 5 teams in the NFL as of December 9, 2022.
- Philadelphia Eagles (currently 11-1): The Eagles are one of the most well rounded teams in the NFL. They have the best record in the league at 10-1. The Eagles rushing attack is one of the best in the NFL with a top 10 running back in rushing yards with Miles Sanders and MVP candidate, Jalen Hurts, who can also run the ball really well as the offense is one of the most efficient. The Eagles defense is also one of the best in the NFL this season with Darius Slay and James Bradberry emerging as one of the best CB duos in the league.
- Kansas City Chiefs (currently 9-3): The Chiefs have the best record in their conference and have a schedule favorable to holding on to first place. With the loss last weekend to the Bengals who seem to be heading for another Super Bowl run of their own, the Chiefs move from the number 1 spot to the second spot on this list. If the season ended right now the Chiefs would be the number two seed in the AFC. The Chiefs have the leading MVP candidate with Patrick Mahomes. Winning another Super Bowl is a realistic goal for this team.
- Buffalo Bills (currently 9-3): The Bills now in the number 1 seed in the AFC with the same record as the Chiefs but have the tiebreaker win over them from earlier this year. The Bills have Josh Allen who is another MVP candidate, this year Josh Allen is third in passing yards and his teammate and friend, Stefon Diggs, is second in receiving yards this year. They have proven to be one of the best quarterback- wide receiver duos in the league. While their rushing attack isn’t as efficient as their passing game they have still proven to be one of the best offenses in the league.
- Dallas Cowboys (currently 9-3): The Dallas Cowboys are showing just how good their defense is this year, the Cowboys’ defense is ranked number 1 in Fantasy football and ranked top 5 this year. As they are 3rd in lowest points allowed per game, 2nd in least passing yards allowed and they have the 5th lowest total yards allowed per game. The offense is also efficient with the 3rd most points scored per game. Micah Parsons (outside linebacker) is a candidate for the defensive player of the year with 12 sacks so far this year.
- Minnesota Vikings (currently 10-2): The Minnesota Vikings have been good this year despite their offense that’s playing alright and a somewhat horrible defense. They still have a lot of things to work on if they want to make a deep playoff run but they have the second best record in the NFL this year. Their defense is allowing the second most yards per game to opposing teams which is something they need to work on. They have some really good playmakers like Justin Jefferson who is having an amazing season he is currently second in receiving yards this year and making a case on why he’s one of the best in the NFL.
