Why Can’t We?

Poem

Shania Searles, Contributor, Lit Mag

Judging people for what we see

Hating them for who they want to be

Why do we?

When will we see this isn’t who we should be?

Accepting and loving

Caring and hugging

This is who we should be

But why can’t we?

Why are we judged because of our races

Judged simply because of the shapes of our faces

Overlooked because of our gender

Why turn your cheek

be someone’s defender

Be someone you want others to be

 loving towards others

Caring to one another

But why can’t we?
