Bella Palmiotto Breaks Triple Jump School Record

Breaking the Triple Jump record was the main goal for junior Bella Palmiotto, and she has done just that!

On May 8, 2023, Palmiotto broke her school’s Triple Jump record previously held by Lyric Green in 2016. While at the B South meet held at Pinelands Regional High School, Palmiotto jumped 37.2 feet on her second attempt, shattering Green’s previous record of 36.10 fet.

“I’ve been trying to break it since freshman year and once I heard 37 it was more of a sigh of relief than all the enactment came after that, Palmiotto said.

However, she didn’t have a feeling she’d break the record that day. “I was only allowed one jump because it was a dual meet,” she said, “so after I messed up my first one I knew I wanted another good one to end on.”

But Palmiotto wasn’t finished.

She broke her own record yet again at Ocean County Championships jumping a 37.9 feet.

This leaves Palmiotto the number one overall Triple Jumper in the Shore Conference and seventh in the state of New Jersey.

Her jump coach, Mr. Salvemini, described Palmiotto as “a true asset to the girl track team” he also believes  “Bella will be successful in whatever she decides to do.”

As for Palmiotto, she plans to improve throughout her upcoming senior year and continue her track and field career in college. Palmiotto said, “I’m starting to communicate with some schools and I plan to  reach out more along the east coast.”
