How did Manchester baseball have such a hot start to the season?

Joe Scalma, pitcher and first basemen let to the team’s success with a batting average of .407, 24 hits, and having the third most homeruns in a season. As a senior and a Stockton commit, he is a role model for the other members of the team.

Head coach Mr. Beauchemin said, “Joe has been a role model and a leader to all of the players with his mannerisms and the way he approaches each day. And his understanding on how to approach good practice or game day.”

Sclama has trained and practiced to achieve the skill level he plays at now. “In the off season I was practicing, and working to reach where I am now, I worked at hitting and wanted to get better,” Sclama said. “All the coaches and parents helped me get this far in my baseball career, and I will continue to work to get ready for the upcoming years.”

The baseball team finished their season after the first round of states with a final record of 9-11-1. Sclama led the team in hits, homeruns, runs, and runs batted in.
