Have you ever played the Papa games? The ones with the different food parlors, where you achieve and acquire new ingredients, customers, and decorations? Almost everybody has played these games at a certain point in or out of school.
The goal of the games is to follow the order the customer gives you, whether by grilling, boiling, or frying the main food of the game, and to get above 90 points, and if you are excellent, a perfect score; 100 points.
Over time, the games became more complex—more steps were needed, more attention to detail was required, etc. The whole trilogy is up to 17 games, each focusing on a different food store. You have a variety of customers– new and old –along with new stories in each game. Each game has stations, each similar and different from one another. Not only does each game have a different introduction, each game also has different endings.
Papa’s Pizzeria- August 2007
The oldest out of all the games, and the most simple too. You get to choose from two players to play as; Roy or Joy. Your goal is to make pizzas, earn new toppings, and make money. With the money you earn, you can buy new things for your store, whether it is an upgrade or decorations. This game has four stations; order, topping, cook, and cutting station. This game is one where you have to touch buttons manually, for example, to start making the pizza, you have to click ‘make pizza’ and so on. This game also has a phone game version of this game, enabling you to play anywhere you go. There is now a deluxe version of this game, which you can buy on Steam.
Papa’s Burgeria- December 2010
Similarly to Pizzaria, this game focuses on the burger. The introduction cutscene begins with your character –the characters you can choose are either Marty or Rita– and you receive a golden ticket and a map with promises of an award from Louie himself. This prize would be the Burgeria itself and gives your character the uniform. This one has three stations as well; order, cook, and assemble. It has the goal of a pizzeria. Unlike Pizzeria, you do not have to click to make things, you just drag things instead. Along with being online, there is also a version of this game for your phone.
Papa’s Taco Mia- May 2011
This is one of my favorite games to play. The intro to this game is your character, Maggie or Mitch, in a taco eating contest. As your character makes it to the final two, night falls and your opponent eventually gives in; thus making you the winner. This one has three stations as well, the same games as before. This one has more steps involved in the cooking station. certain things you must flip — some multiple times — and cut certain meats. You get different taco shells, as well as many toppings to go with the tacos. This game has set decorations, so you only need to buy them, and when you start the new day, they will be in your lobby. The same goes for any store upgrades you buy.
Papa’s Freezeria- August 2011
The goal of this game is to run a successful shop, just selling milkshakes. The introduction to this is your character — Penny or Alberto– is getting trained for a new job at the freezeria, and is given the uniform by Papa Louie. Much to his dismay, as soon as Papa Louis left, a cruise ship landed at port. There are four stations in this game: order, build, mix, and top. This game allows you to click buttons, aim for the green in the middle of a bar, and drag toppings and such on top of the shakes. You can buy furniture, and choose the place you put it, as well as upgrade the equipment you use in the game. Along with a deluxe version –which you can buy on Steam–, there is an app store version, meant for your phone, where you can play anywhere at any time.
Papa’s Pancakeria- March 2012
The introduction to this game is the characters, Cooper or Prudence, are in their car driving in the when– depending on the character’s animal, dog or cat, jumps out of the car. The characters soon get a call that their animal companion is at the Pancakeria, in Maple Mountain. When they get to the pancakeria, their pet is there with a note that they like it there, and that Papa Louie needs a favor; to run the store while he is gone. When they look back, their pet has a spatula in their mouth, thus starting the game. The goal of this game is to run a shop, focusing on pancakes, as well as waffles, french toast, and anything breakfast-related. You can buy posters, furniture, and upgrades. The thing that separates this game from the others is the unlockable drink station, where you can drink coffee and such.
Papa’s Wingeria- June 2012
In the sixth game in the franchise, Wingeria, you focus on running a successful wing store, where you play as either Mitch or Maggie. The stations in the game are: order, fry, sauce, and build. You build a platter with the wings you fry, sauce, dipping cups, and various vegetables. You can decorate, pick, and choose the furniture where you want it, along with upgrades for your shop. Along with buying furniture, you can also purchase clothing and customize what your character gets to wear. Just like the other games, you also have a to-go version of this game for your phone.
Papa’s Hot Doggeria- November 2012
In the seventh game in the trilogy, this game deals with making hot dogs, along with different flavored popcorn and sodas. You get different buns, different types of hot dogs, and different kinds of sodas to sell. You can upgrade your store, decorate your store, and even get different clothes for your character. In this game, unlike some others, you can create your character. You can choose your hair color and style, skin color, and anything to do with your appearance.
Papa’s Cupcakeria- August 2013
This is one of my least favorite games. You start off as either Willow or James, and end up crashing into the car containing Papa Louie and Ray — from the Papa’s Pizzeria game– who then is forced to forfeit his role in the new restaurant: Papa’s Cupcakeria. You make, bake, ice, and top them with various toppings. The hardest part of this game is the icing, but all around fun to play. You can decorate your store, and upgrade it as well. There are many different customers, you even serve the mayor of the town, Frostfield.
Papa’s Pastaria- December 2013
This is another one of my least favorite games. Despite this, it is fun to play, and the concept is great. The featured characters in this game are Doan and Utah, along with a customizable one, where they are invited to a wedding in Italy. They cannot find housing, until they find one above the pastaria. When they arrive, they find out they also must run the pasta store. Like the other games, you can upgrade and buy stuff for your store. You sell different variations of pasta, sauces, toppings, and various breads. This game takes place in what seems like Italy. Pastaria ends with Papa Louie officiating the wedding of Little Edoardo and Olga, connecting back with the introduction of your character getting the wedding invite.
Papa’s Donuteria- June 2014
This game, as the title suggests, focuses on donuts. The game starts off with your character — Tony or Scooter, and even a customizable one– wants to go on a rollercoaster, The Ninja, at Powder Point amusement park. The donuteria offers employees a ‘skip line’ pass, but as your character is about to go on, it breaks down. Much to your character’s disappointment, they now must run the store. While you run the store, you can upgrade it to make your job easier, and get furniture and clothing, as well as many toppings . In this game, you even get a dining room, where you can serve donuts to customers there too. The ending of the game leads up to Scooter riding the coaster, evidently ending the game’s main storyline.
Papa’s Cheeseria- June 2015
The game, the eleventh one in the trilogy, is based on making grilled cheese and cheese melts. The characters — Rudy, Scarlett, and the customizable one as a guest star– are in a band and are about to perform, until their equipment is stolen, forcing them to cancel. Papa Louie, who helps discover the stolen instruments, offers the character a job to help buy new ones. The goal is to run a successful shop, and buy back the instruments. You can upgrade your shop, unlock new bread, cheese, and even fries that are sold alongside the sandwiches. The ending of the game comes with the stolen instruments being found, and the culprit, Guy Mortadello being arrested and the show going on.
Papa’s Bakeria- March 2016
This game, marking the 10th anniversary of Papa Louie games, making it the biggest game yet! The game, that stars in a mall, is focused on a baked goods store. Your character — Timm, Cecilia, or a custom one– applies to a store for a job, which you can choose which store you work at. Much to their disappointment, the store is closed for good after being called that they got the job. Papa Louie, who saw the scene offered a job at his store, starting the game. the game focuses on making pies, with a variety of fillings, and toppings. Along with the pie variety, you can also buy upgrades, clothes, and furniture for your store. The ending scene of the game is Papa Louie calls over your character for a special surprise. He opened the store you applied for on youtube , able to work there.
Papa’s Sushiria- December 2016
This game, the thirteenth game in the trilogy, is based on a suhia restaurant. The game takes place in Sakura Bay, when your character –Matt, Clover, or custom– visits the shop, accidently knocking over an expensive golden cat. Papa Louie, who is distraught, offers them a job to pay off the debt. In the game, you can unlock different rices, toppings, and sauces to top it off. Along with serving sushi, you also serve boba drinks. You can unlock different flavors and pearls for your drinks. Along with all the edibles, you can buy upgrades, clothes, and furniture for your shop. The ending scene starts with Papa Louie calling over your character, showing off the new statue. The game finally ends with all the customers coming to see, ultimately surrounding the shop.
Papa’s Scooperia- July 2018
The fourteenth game, Scooperia, is an ice cream parlor with cookies as the base. The characters –Koilee, Carlo Romano, and custom — are visiting the city of Oniontown. Thye find housing, only to wake up to find the Scooperia being built and finished, along with all their belongings missing. Papa Louie sees this, and offers them a job to help ease their struggle. While you play, you unlock different types of cookies, icecream, and toppings. You can also buy upgrades, furniture, and clothes to help run your shop. The ending cutscene starts off with Papa Louie showing you a police car with the thief in the back seat. He hands you the items stolen, and along with the prize of the Scooperia.
