In the gymnasium of the Hawks Nest, there are multiple athletic banners. Multiple conference titles, division wins, etc. There are some that stand out. For example, the 1,000 career points banner for basketball. This banner has many notable names on it, like our wonderful principal Mr. Dennis Adams, Devyn Quigley, Destiny Adams, Lelani Correa, and so many more alumni. This exclusive list has just gotten a new member.
Senior Guard Aidan Lunn reached 1000 points on Monday 2/10, in a 72-58 victory over Jackson Liberty, with Lunn’s total points sitting at 1,022 as of Monday. At 6-foot-3, Lunn stands tall over his competition, and is certainly a key piece of the Hawks locker room. As a dual-sport athlete, Lunn is not limited to only being a quarterback, as proven by his points scored, his basketball ability is no joke.
In an interview with The Talon sportswriter Valentino Vaccarella, Lunn answered the following questions.
Q: What’s been your motivation to not only have great performances on the court, but also balance classwork and other responsibilities throughout high school?
A: “Two things I’ve always lived by is to never give up, and hard work always pays off. So I always knew if I always do the right things not only in the classroom, but in life it would pay off one day!”
Q: How does it feel knowing your name will always be in the hawk history books?
A: “It’s awesome! It’s everything I’ve always worked for my whole life! I always knew I wanted to get my name up on that 1,000 point banner since I was a little kid coming to watch my big brother play, and also showing that my performance with the Manchester Hawks football team was very good as well.”
Q: Anything else you would like to say?
A: “I just want to thank God, my coaches, and my family for giving me this opportunity, and always pushing me to be my best possible self on and off the court and football field!”
When you think of Manchester Township High School’s alumni, you may think of some names such as Kevin Malast, Jimmy Lawson, Devyn Quigley, Lelani Correa, Andrew Valmon, and other athletes. Aidan Lunn is shaping up to be one of those names as well. Dominating in football is one thing, but 1000 basketball points is another.
Aidan Lunn’s four years as a Hawk will be remembered for his athletic accomplishments, and dare I say he’ll be remembered as the best Hawk athlete of the 2020’s.
His name will forever be in the history books of MTHS.
Welcome to the 1000 Points Club, Aidan Lunn!
