Canada has been demolished in their own sport by the USA during the NHL 4 Nations Face Off tournament. Before the game, the packed Bell Centre in Montreal was filled with fans booing the American National Anthem. It was clear that the U.S. team did not take kindly to this as right off the opening faceoff, U.S. captain Matthew Tkachuk squared up with Canada’s Brandon Hagel, who ended up taking a mid game nap. Two other fights would follow in the first 9 seconds alone.
Connor McDavid would give Canada their only score of the night, and Dylan Larkin would respond to get the game to 1-1 at the end of the first period. Dylan Larkin would score off the rush to break the tie very close to the end of the second period. Jake Guentzel would get an empty netter for the final score of the game. Social media has been buzzing since the game, with much trash talk coming from both sides. A rematch is scheduled in the 4 Nations Final to at TD Garden and being broadcast on ESPN, ESPN+, and Disney+.
