Sianna Blackwell, Editor, Lit Mag

The Talon is super enthusiastic to announce the Grand Opening of the MTHS Literary Magazine, which will be featured online!

Members of the Writing Club, with the help of Ms. Bean (a published author and English Teacher at MTHS) created the beautiful theme for the issue – LIFE CAN BE ANY KIND OF STORY.

The 2023 Literary Magazine issue is now open for submissions of poetry, short stories, flash fiction, and creative nonfiction.

Submissions are open to any current student or staff member who shares the common love for writing.

Submissions should be sent to [email protected] by Friday, December 2nd at 5 pm along with a short biography (50 words max).

From there, submissions will be anonymously read and approved for publication on the Lit Mag website or rejected. The Lit Mag strongly urges all submissions to be school appropriate and not contain any graphic or explicit passages. Submissions that do not follow guidelines will be rejected.

If you happen to find yourself withdrawing your submission, you can easily notify Ms. Bean by email, but it has to be done before the deadline as mentioned above.

We are thrilled to read and receive all of your submissions. Please be patient with staff of the Lit Mag and members of the Writing Club as they expect to receive a high number of submissions and emails!

Submission Guidelines:

  • Short stories/ creative nonfiction: max. 2500 words
  • Flash Fiction: max. 500 words
  • Poetry: max. 3 poems (submitted in single file)
  • Include your name in the email, along with a short biographical note (50 words max)

See Ms. Bean or editor Sianna Blackwell with any questions.
