The New York Yankees had high expectations going into the post 2022 offseason after being swept by the Houston Astros in the American League Championship series, ending the Yankees season in an embarrassing fashion.

Players who declared free agency: Tyler Wade, Chi Chi Gonzalez, Jacob Barnes, Anthony Banda, Luke Bard, Ronald Guzman,  Andrew Benintendi, Jameson Taillon, Miguel Castro, Chad Green, Aroldis Chapman, Zack Britton, Aaron Judge, Marwin Gonzalez, Matt Carpenter, Anthony Rizzo, Matt Bowman, Jake Bauers, Blake Perkins, Reggie McClain, Rob Brantly, Chris Owings, Ryan LaMarre, Richard Rodriguez, Phillip Evans, Shane Greene, Chasen Shreve, Derek Dietrich, Jose Mujica, Tyler Duffey, and Carlos Espinal.

On December 20, 2022 OF Aaron Judge signed a nine-year $360 million contract ( 2023-2031) and was made captain of the New York Yankees.

On December 21, 2022 RP Tommy Kahnle signed a two-year $11.5 million contract with the New York Yankees ( 2023-2024)

On December 21, 2022 SP Carlos Rodon signed a six-year $162 million contract with the New York Yankees

Players that avoided arbitration: Clay Holmes, Nestor Cortes, Kyle Higashioka, Jose Trevino, Domingo German, Michael King, Frankie Montas, Wandy Peralta, Jonathan Loaisiga, and Gleyber Torres.

Minor League contracts: James Norwood, Art Warren, Jake Bauers, Ryan Weber, Nick Ramirez, Michael Hermosillo, Demarcus Evans, Wilmer Difo, Tanner Tully, Tyler Danish, Willie Calhoun, Billy McKinney, Rafael Ortega, and Ian Hamilton.
