Sophomore wrestler Makenna O’Neill placed third in her weight class (107) at the NJSIAA Girls Region South Tournament. Her third place win in Regions led O’Neill to make school history by being the first female Hawk wrestler ever to qualify for the state tournament, which will take place on Sunday, February 26, at Phillipsburg High School.

O’Neill is a three sport athlete, partaking in cross country, wrestling, and softball.

“Wrestling always interested me and when I found out Manchester had a girls team I wanted to do it,” she said. Throughout O’Neill’s participation in wrestling, she has learned that hard work pays off. She is very excited to show off her hard work at the state tournament this weekend.
