Why did you become a Teacher?
My mom was a teacher, and I was exposed to it at a young age. When I was in high school I was always very good at math. My younger brother frequently asked me for help with his math homework. I really enjoyed helping him, and he always told me that I explained everything very well. This made me realize how much I loved teaching math to other people and being able to explain things in a way that helped them understand.
Something about you that would surprise students?
When I was in high school I was on the Varsity bowling team all four years. In my sophomore year, which was also my sister’s senior year, we won the state championship together with our team.
Biggest Motivation for becoming your current position at MTHS?
I have lived in Manchester for the last 8 years, and I have taught at MTHS for the last 4 years. After I moved here and had my two youngest children I stayed home for a few years, and I knew that when I went back to work I wanted to teach in the town that I live in. I love being a part of the community where my children are growing up and attending school and where I am enjoying my favorite years of my teaching career.
Favorite Traditions/Superstitions you have at MTHS
One of my favorite traditions at MTHS is the door decorating contests. I love that teachers have the opportunity to brighten the hallways with festive decorations for the holidays. It is also fun to have students get involved and help decorate as well. I also love on the last day of school how the entire staff gathers on the bus platform to wave goodbye to the students and send them off to a safe and happy summer vacation.
Someone you admire the Hawks Nest
I admire so many different people here at the Hawks Nest for so many different reasons. Everyone here works hard balancing so many different things and wearing so many hats. If I had to choose I would have to say that I admire the secretaries because without them the school would not run efficiently!
Dream Vacation
My dream vacation would be to go anywhere tropical! I absolutely LOVE the beach. I have never been to Aruba, and that is definitely a place I would love to visit.

If I had one wish, it would be for my family to live a long, happy, and healthy lives.
Best MTHS Memory
I don’t know if I could choose one specific memory, so I would say my favorite thing at MTHS is when former students stop into my classroom. They may just visit and say “hi” or they come talk to me to update me about their life or ask me for advice. It means a lot to me that students feel comfortable enough with me to come back even when I am no longer their teacher.
Advice for students
“Let your effort rise above your excuses.” We all have moments or times in life when things can be hard. It’s ok to give yourself time to process things and have feelings, but then move on. Don’t let it stop you from pushing yourself to be the best you can be. Use those obstacles as motivation to hurdle past the difficulties.
