Why did you become a Teacher/Administrator/Counselor?
For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a teacher. I used to make my younger siblings “play school with me” when we were little. I would pretend to be the teacher and make-up silly worksheets and activities for them to do. When I got to high school I decided to be a history teacher. For me history was the most interesting. I enjoyed learning about stuff in the past and discussing different ways of looking at important world changing events. People don’t always realize how much of our past impacts the present day and our future.
Something about you that would surprise students?
In high school I had perfect attendance all for years. I never missed a day of school! My students don’t believe me when I tell them this!
Biggest Motivation for becoming your current position at MTHS?
Believe it or not, school was not always easy for me. My childhood was challenging at times, but I had a lot of great support from teachers and coaches. I wanted to pay it forward and help kids like me!
