The Girls Cross Country team is getting ready to push their limits and be the very best versions of themselves. Head Coach, Ms. Struble, strives to instill confidence in her team of independent women. Struble’s goal this season is to foster a community of strong, mentally tough young women who are dedicated to embracing the challenges of distance running. Through discipline, perseverance, and teamwork, she aims to build athletes who thrive not only on the course but also in all aspects of their lives.
Every runner has achieved a personal best in their first two meets, demonstrating remarkable progress and determination. Their second-place runner has made incredible improvement, surpassing her personal best from last year by 10 minutes and even outpacing their top runner! They believe in consistently striving to be better than the day before. This mindset, centered around personal growth and achieving personal records, has led to every single runner already breaking their record twice this season.
The team is very proud to have three exceptional seniors serving as team captains: Jamie Popek, Jade Andrews, and Makenna O’Neil—all of whom were among the Homecoming nominees. Their leadership and dedication inspire the entire team to push their limits and lead by example.
Cross country naturally attracts individuals with a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence. This program has a proud tradition of producing high-achieving students, including valedictorians and salutatorians. Impressively, 98% of its runners rank in the top 20% of their class. Distance running isn’t just about physical endurance; it builds mental resilience and tenacity, which are essential for success both on and off the course.
Without the support of assistant coaches or volunteers, these athletes take on the challenge independently, learning invaluable lessons in self-discipline and perseverance. Cross country is not for the faint-hearted—it is a sport for those willing to push beyond their limits, creating success stories that last a lifetime.
