In the 23-24 NHL Season, the New York Rangers were the President Trophy winners, meaning they had the most points in the whole league.The New York Rangers have been a playoff contender for years in the NHL where they strive for the best. Madison Square Garden is a large, dedicated and loud arena and is a very historic arena known as “The World’s Most Famous Arena”. They are hoping to come back better than ever this season. The Rangers are a strong team that will definitely succeed this year.
This year they have new coaching, players and have changed their team in a lot of ways. They need to bounce back from the previous season where they missed the playoffs. They need their key players such as Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, Will Cuylle and Alexis Lafreniere to step up on offense.
The New York Rangers’ new captain is J.T Miller who is a veteran that played with the Rangers from 2013-2017 before getting traded. J.T Miller got traded back to the Rangers in the beginning of 2025 which was in the middle of last season. He is the captain of the NY Rangers and wants to lead his team to victory.
Artemi Panarin joined the New York Rangers in 2019 and has continued to be a crucial player on his team making insane plays and his awareness is what makes him one of the best players in the NHL. Some players have had rough seasons last year such as Alexis Lafreniere and Mika Zibanejad who have to play better to make it to the playoffs.
Adam Fox who is considered the best defensemen on the New York Rangers is an important player on the team. Adam Fox is on a line with Vladislav Gavrikov who just got traded to the New York Rangers from the LA Kings. Igor Shesterkin is an insane goalie on the New York Rangers who is trying to hold this team together and is arguably one of the best goalies in the NHL.
Mike Sullivan, the coach of New York Rangers, came from the Penguins where he coached the team for 10 years. Mike Sullivan has been working with every player and is doing his best to make an impact on this team this season. He has been training his team in the offseason and they want to start off the season strong with giving it everything they have.
This season they need their top players to perform well but this can be challenging if players are injured and they need to be ready for what is to come. They started their season rough with getting their first home win of the season on November 10th, 2025 against the Nashville Predators. Vincent Trocheck is back on the lineup from injury where he has made a big impact since he has returned from injury. They so far have a record of 10-9-2 and are 6th in their division.
Their mentality has changed for this season to be aggressive and fast. They want to be in their opponents’ faces. They don’t want to be the “soft” team they were and their mentality this season has changed for the better. The New York Rangers have to step up their game after a rough start to the season.
