Why did you become a Teacher/Administrator/Counselor?
I grew up in a family surrounded by educators. Education was all I knew growing up, sitting around the kitchen table at night hearing stories from everyone’s days was something I got accustomed to. Beyond that I was fortunate enough to have some really influential teachers in my life throughout elementary school and high school. Additionally I love sports and really wanted to have the opportunity to coach.
Something about you that would surprise students?
I used to be a three sport athlete in high school. I ran cross country, played forward in basketball and catcher for baseball. Sports are part of who I am.
Biggest Motivation for becoming your current position at MTHS?
Finding a history position in Ocean County was an ideal spot for me. I was lucky enough to find an opening here in Manchester. It’s nice not being too close to home but not too far!
Favorite Traditions/Superstitions you have at MTHS
I think some of the annual extracurricular events that take place here are awesome. Events like the powder puff game, or the 100 nights dinner for Seniors is something really great for our students, they are a staple of the students high school experience and memories.
Someone you admire the Hawks Nest
Everyone in the hawks nest has been really kind and welcoming since my arrival. But I want to give a shout out to the History department for the constant laughs and constant support. Additionally I have been lucky to be on a great coaching staff with Coach Lang, Williams and Dev where we all have a shared drive and vision for the program!
Dream Vacation
I am very much so a person who wants to sit on a beach in a tropical area. However, it is on my bucket list to visit Italy and Sicily one day. I need to try the food!
If you had one wish, they’d wish for:
The health and wellbeing of my loved ones…along with the yankees winning the world series this coming year
Best MTHS Memory
Attending graduation last year with my first group of seniors was a really rewarding experience. Additionally our road basketball victories against Brick and Lacey were gutsy performances in great environments.
Advice for students
I always preach for students to get involved as much as possible during high school. Most of my best memories in high school came OUT of the classroom. Whether it is playing a sport, being in clubs, going on class trips, or attending different dances/school run events; YOU have the opportunity to really create your own unique experiences and memories. The people that sit back passively during high school and don’t get involved typically are the ones who don’t speak as highly on their high school careers. Take the risk it is worth it.
