Why did you become a Teacher/Administrator/Counselor?
When I was in sixth grade I was walking in the New Brunswick Mall with my mother. There was a blind man walking asking “Can someone lead me towards Macy’s?” Before I could register what the man was asking there was a security guard there to help him. I realized this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to help people that needed a little more help in life. Realizing I wanted to be a high school teacher came a little bit later when I realized I wanted to coach.
Something about you that would surprise students?
I was NOT a good math student in high school. Math did not really click for me until later in my college experience.
Biggest Motivation for becoming your current position at MTHS?
My biggest motivation for anything I have done in my adult life is my parents. They are the best 2 people I know. Anyone that knows me knows they are my best friends. My parents will do anything for me. From my father cutting out the large wooden M’s you see at graduation and football games to my mother helping me with prom and homecoming decorations. If I ask them from help with a new and crazy idea they will always help me.
Favorite Traditions/Superstitions you have at MTHS?
My favorite tradition at the high school is spirit weeks. I wish everyone would dress up and enjoy the fun that starts each sports season!
Someone you admire the Hawks Nest?
The people that I admire the most are the secretaries. They are the greatest women in this building. Without them, we would fall apart. They do everything for the faculty, administration and the students.
Dream Vacation?
My dream vacation is somewhere warm where I can sit on the beach and do math problems.
If you had one wish, they’d wish for:
I would wish for a place to live where my mother and father live on one side of my house and my grandbabies live on the other side. oh yeah, and my husband lives there too. We would have a GIANT pool that would have a lazy river and we would float from one yard to the next! I would have an underground passage to their house to steal dinner when I didn’t want to cook. My sister would live in the house behind me with her family and I could be closer to my amazing niece Chloe!
Best MTHS Memory?
2022 teacher of the year. It is always an honor to be recognized by your peers and to have a letter written by a coworker that is unexpected.
Advice for students?
Join the track team! We have something for everyone. Running, Throwing, Jumping, Vaulting, hurdling….. And the best of all, we have the best coaches around! My throwers are the greatest ladies you will ever meet. I love spending my fridays and saturdays with them at LONG track meets in May.
