Why did you become a Teacher/Administrator/Counselor?
I became a teacher because I’ve always loved working with teenagers and helping them realize their potential. I wanted a career where I could make a positive impact every day, whether that’s helping students grow academically, emotionally, or as leaders. Teaching Psychology and Leadership allows me to connect real-life lessons to the classroom, which makes the job especially meaningful.
Something about you that would surprise students?
Something that might surprise students is that before coming to MTHS, I was the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Toms River South for 15 years. Coaching has always been a huge part of my life, and I still love being involved in athletics as an assistant field hockey coach at MTHS. Also, when I was in high school, I was in the band.
Biggest Motivation for becoming your current position at MTHS?
My biggest motivation has always been building relationships with students and creating a positive environment where they feel supported and challenged. I wanted to be part of a school community where I could teach meaningful subjects like Psychology and Leadership while also contributing through coaching and school involvement.
Favorite Traditions/Superstitions you have at MTHS?
Door Decorating Contests, Trunk or Treat Haunted Bus, Helping Hands for Hunger, Kevin’s Kids, Chaperoning the Proms, Wearing Blue and Gold on Fridays and my absolute favorite tradition is preparing the Fallen Hawks Memorial Garden for our annual post graduation celebration where students and their families can come enjoy the space and take pictures after graduation.
Someone you admire the Hawks Nest?
I admire the students who consistently work hard, show kindness, and push themselves to improve every day. We have so many students at MTHS who balance academics, athletics, jobs, and extracurricular activities while still supporting one another, and that’s really impressive.
Dream Vacation?
My dream vacation would be traveling through Italy and Greece—enjoying the history, beaches, amazing food, and beautiful scenery.
If you had one wish, they’d wish for:
I would wish for happiness, health, and success for my family, friends, and students.
Best MTHS Memory?
One of my best memories is watching students grow over the years and seeing former students come back to share their accomplishments and successes. Those moments remind me why teaching is so rewarding.
Advice for students?
Get involved, work hard, and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. High school goes by quickly, so take advantage of opportunities, build relationships, and remember that effort and attitude can take you a long way.
