The Manchester Township High School (MTHS) Winter Blood Drive is on 18 February 2026 in the gym. This is an open opportunity to all students, teachers, and staff who are eligible.
To be eligible you need to:
- Be in good general health and feeling well.
- Maintaining your iron level is an important part of being a healthy donor. We encourage you to learn more about iron and donating blood
- Be at least 17-years-old
- Weigh at least 110 lbs. Additional height and weight requirements apply for donors 18 years old and younger and all high school student donors.
- Have not donated blood in the last 56 days
Please refer here for height and weight requirements.
As for signing up, appointments are recommended but not required. Click here to sign up/make an appointment.
- Why is it best to schedule an appointment?
Manchester’s Blood Drive Committee hopes to fit as many donors as possible. With limited tables and workers at a given time, a walk-in donor must fill in the gaps between the scheduled donors. Additionally, when scheduling an appointment, it’s easier to select which class and time will be missed. It might be better to miss gym or an elective than an AP or honors class
- Why should I donate blood?
Donating blood does not take long, however, it has a long-lasting impact. Such an act can help lives. When donating, rather than thinking about the needles and blood, it is helpful to think about where your donation might go and who you might be helping.
We asked Mrs. Kelly if there was anything she wanted the students to know about the blood drive and she said:
- With one single pint of blood you donate, you can save three lives
- There is a blood shortage so any blood donated will help save lives
- It is a demerit removal of up to five demerits
We need donations! There will be an assembly during PE or class meetings with the juniors and seniors. Students can see Mrs. McKiernan, Ms. O’Connor, or Mrs. Kelly to sign up any time!
Please contact the Manchester Blood Drive committee advisor, Mrs. McKiernan, Mrs. Kelly, or Ms. O’Connor with any questions.
