She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode Three: “The People vs. Emil Blonsky”

Spoilers Ahead!

Though She-Hulk has already appeared in other animated series this is the first time She-Hulk has ever been live-action with her own solo project on Disney+. Since the Incredible Hulk is a more popular character than She-Hulk, her comic history isn’t as known. So before watching She-Hulk: Attorney At Law fans should know some basic background information on a lesser known character. The character of She-Hulk first appeared in 1980 in her own solo comic book series, She-Hulk. Jennifer Walters, our main character of the series, later transforms into the title character. Jen is just a normal lawyer, well not that normal. She is an attorney at law in Los Angeles hence the title of the Disney+ series. She first becomes She-Hulk after obtaining a dangerous injury, Jennifer gets a blood transfusion with donated blood from her cousin, Bruce Banner. Due to acquiring some of his blood, she becomes a milder version of the Hulk… AKA She-Hulk.

Hidden Details/Easter Eggs: 

• At the end of the previous episode (episode two), “Superhuman Law”, Jen finds out that Emil escaped prison amid parole, turned into the Abomination, to fight at The Golden Daggers. The entire fight was televised as breaking news, only hurting Emil´s case as he did escape just shy of his hearing. This is the scene we saw back in Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings where Shang-Chi and Katy see Abomination and Wong go at it.
• Fans need to remember who the Sorcerer Supreme is… and it is not Doctor Strange. It was revealed in Spider-Man: No Way Home that Wong became Sorcerer Supreme. As Stephan liked to point out, “He got it on a technicality ’cause I Blipped for five years.” But I’m sure all fans can agree Wong is best for the position. Fans are even going as far to say that the MCU should be changed to the WCU aka the Wong Cinematic Universe. As he has been cameoing in most of the recent Marvel projects and of course stealing the show. Recently he’s been in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law (duh), Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. 
• When Nikki is looking up Wong all over social media, she stumbles upon his LinkedIn page. There you can see his employment history which includes currently being the Sorcerer Supreme, was a Kamar-Taj Librarian for eleven years (which was where he was first introduced back in Doctor Strange), and to fans’ surprise was a Target Sales Associate for nine years!! Underneath his employment history Wong´s only mutual connection is Bruce Banner.
• Some top videos seen in She-Hulk during The Tattle News include “The Truth about so-called She-Hulk”, “She-Hulk is not real theory”, and even “Super Hero Hoax”. This is a hilarious little detail because as you all know this is how most of the internet is nowadays surrounding YouTube Marvel videos. 
• Most of the reviews for the She-Hulk show are quite negative, demeaning to women, and just straight up sexist. She-Hulk: Attorney At Law even incorporated the negativity and hate into the storyline. Some of the comments in this episode include, “No more female superhero plz”, “Why are you turning every superhero into a girl. No one asked for that!”, “Why everything gotta be female now???”, “So we have a #MeToo movement and now all the male heroes are gone???” Viewers have to know that Phase 4 of Marvel has been rebooting a lot of the heroes due to the major events of Avengers: Endgame. The entire phase so far has been dealing with the aftermath of the Blip, the deaths of beloved Avengers (Natasha and Steve), and Tony Stark’s sacrifice. So the new line up for the Avengers is Riri Williams/IronHearts replacing IronMan, Sam Wilson/Captain America replacing Captain America, first Jane Foster became the Mighty Thor but after her death Love (Gorr’s daughter) replacing Thor, Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk replacing Hulk, Yelena Belova/Black Widow replacing Black Widow, Cassie Lang replacing Ant-Man??, and Shuri replacing Black Panther??
• When someone went live the comment section includes haters with comments like, “OMG, shut up this is so stupid. She-Hulk isn’t even real. She is just some media puppet”. There was however one very interesting comment hoping She-Hulk advocates for endangered lemurs, “I like the idea of her I just wish she would use her platform to stand up for the endangered lemurs. It’s like she doesn’t even care.” 
• Renée Elise Goldsberry, most notably known for her original role as Angelica Schuyler in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton, makes her Marvel debut in episode three of She-Hulk where she is introduced as Mallory Book. This character is pulled directly from the comics in which she also works at GLK/H and is rivals with Jen. Mallory is the top lawyer at the company before Jen steps on her moment. 
• Wong says, “I know what you’re thinking, Ms. Walters, and I’m not erasing everyone’s memories. Not again.” This is a nod to Spider-Man: No Way Home when Doctor Strange erases everyone’s memories of Peter Parker, making the entire world forget who he is or that he even exists. “So cast a new spe;;. But this time, make everyone forget who Peter Parker is. Make everyone forget… me.” This is the second time Spider-Man has been brought up since the events (and brutal ending) of No Way Home. Is Wong being the responsible Sorcerer Supreme he was titled to be or is he still upset about not remembering the full moon party at Kamar-Taj?? 
• While Pug is watching the video of the Megan Thee Stallion impersonator/shapeshifter next to the video there is an advertisement for the Iron Man Three´s sneakers, a tribute for Tony Stark. We love you, 3000!! (This was also an easter egg from last episode, episode two, “Superhuman Law”)
• On Jen’s list of witnesses for Emil’s parole, she has quotations around Wong’s name because she is not 100% sure if it’s even his real name. This is not the first time someone in the cinematic universe has commented on Wong’s name. The first time was in Doctor Strange. “And you are?” “Wong.” “Just Wong? Like Adele or Beyoncé? Drake?” 
• While Runa (the Megan Thee Stallion impersonator/shapeshifter) she talks about Asgard, quoting Heimdall’s inspirational speech from the end of Thor: Ragnarok. Runa says, “Excuse me, Your Honor, but Asgard is not a place, it is a people. Therefore I-”. Heimdall’s speech or as the Judge likes to call it a “Thor inspirational speech” at the end of Thor: Ragnarok goes like, “You saved us from extinction. Asgard is not a place, it’s a people.” 
• When leaving the prison, after Emil’s parole case, a reporter asks Jen, “Is there any truth to the rumors you got your powers from a Mafia hit gone wrong?” This is a direct nod to the comics which is actually how Jen became She-Hulk. It was a hit by the Mafia gone wrong which resulted in Jen needing a blood transfusion with donated blood from her cousin, Bruce Banner. Due to acquiring some of his blood, she becomes a milder version of the Hulk… AKA She-Hulk. 
• “The People vs. Emil Blonsky” ends with Jen being attacked by the Wrecking Crew, who are taken directly from the comics. In the comics the crew got powers after being struck by lightning and even battled Thor a couple of times. This is even joked about during this scene, “Did you guys rob an Asgardian construction worker?” It is rumored that this crew is working for some to try and retrieve She-Hulk’s blood to once again try and recreate the serum. 
• Finally, this is NOT an easter egg but fans might want to watch until the credits where She-Hulk signs a new client… None other than Megan Thee Stallion. After she signs the contract they twerk together which is very… cringy… to say the least. Megan Thee Stallion then says, “Oh, you are way more fun than my last lawyer.” Fans are speculating who she could be talking about… Matt Murdock?? Jeri Hogarth??
