There has been much speculation for quite some time now that Marvel Studios would introduce characters from the canceled Netflix Marvel hits. All the series’ included Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron First, The Defenders, The Punisher, and, of course, DareDevil

After the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home with Charlie Cox’s cameo as the really good lawyer, Matt Murdock and the main villain of Hawkeye turning out to be Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. Making not just DareDevil canonized in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but all the other Netflix series including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher. Over this past summer, at San Diego Comic Con, Marvel announced that both Cox and D’Onofrio will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe once more for the Echo series. Marvel surprised fans the same day by announcing an all new rebooted Devil of Hell’s Kitchen series, DareDevil: Born Again. The 18-episode original series will be coming to Disney+ in Spring of 2024, with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles as the “Man Without Fear” and “The Kingpin”.

Though DareDevil: Born Again is not expected to release for another year or so, Matt Murdock recently “teamed up” with fellow lawyer, Jen Walters (in more than one way), in episode eight of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, streaming only on Disney+. So what can we expect from DareDevil: Born Again?? Though the series is still merely in the works, it has been spotted that filming has begun in Yonkers and Harlem, New York as of March 2023. Very minimal details have been announced about the series except that casting rumors have been confirmed. Mentioned before, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are set to lead the series but the rest of the cast has been steadily building up. It was announced that Michael Gandolfini (known for The Many Saints of Neward) has been cast in a major undisclosed role.

The most exciting casting news came as it was announced that Jon Bernthal will be returning as Frank Castle/The Punisher. He was introduced in season two of DareDevil and later received his own solo series, The Punisher. Bernthal’s portrayal of the character is one of the best page to screen adaptation of one of the most broody, violent, and gory comic characters. Frank’s morals, or lack of, and attitude make him a grittier character than other anti-heroes in Marvel. It will be interesting to see if the MCU will tone down such a character due to their extent of PG-13 ratings. Fans can not wait until they hear the iconic, “Hey, Red”, from Bernthal though.

Rosario Dawson may have accidentally teased her role in the series as well since she recently said in an interview that her character, Claire Temple, has appeared in every Defender’s Saga series except The Punisher. She has yet to interact with Frank Castle himself, so this begs the question, will Rosario Dawson not only dominate the Star Wars franchise as Ahsoka but make her debut in the MCU??

Other confirmed cast members include Margarita Levieva, who is rumored to be playing one of Matt Murdock’s many love interests, and Nikki M. James. Sandrine Holt will be taking over Ayelet Zurer’s role of Vanessa Fisk, Kingpin’s wife. It has been confirmed that Cox’s old co-stars will not be returning for the Disney+ series.

Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson were the perfect trio alongside Cox’s Matt Murdock, as Karen Page, and Murdock’s best friend and partner in law, Foggy Nelson. It was recently confirmed that neither of them will be returning for the MCU’s DareDevil series. The main rumor going around is that Born Again will take place during the height of The Blip, which can explain why two pivotal characters in Matt’s story wouldn’t return. So, did Karen Page and Foggy Nelson get dusted?? Leaving Matt all alone with his mask, his city, and possibly Fisk…

From apparent “trusted and proven sources”, it is safe to report that Kevin Feige has approved Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones Marvel Cinematic Universe debut but it is unknown when she’ll return. Krysten Ritter was supposed to return as one of New York’s best Private Investigators, Jessica Jones in DareDevil: Born Again but due to scheduling conflicts Jon Bernthal is now taking her part in the series. Rumor has it that Ritter will make her Marvel debut in Born Again in six episodes as Jessica Jones will be in search of Kilgrave’s illegitimate children who have inherited his powers. This can then lead into her receiving her own solo series as Kevin Feige is highly pushing to do so. Marvel’s best bet would have been to introduce Jessica into the MCU with a small cameo in Born Again similar to what they did with Matt in No Way Home but then add her as a bigger role in future projects. If they were to take this route they should take my advice and continue the Alias storyline where she’s married to Luke, has a little daughter, and have Squirrel Girl babysit her. It shows the growth of the character and the shift in her MO. Want to know more about Krysten Ritter’s possible return to the superhero gig?? When is DareDevil: Born Again Releasing??

The series is still in the works and even began filming but only very minimal details have been released yet. All we know as of now, is that the show is scheduled to exclusively stream on Disney+ in Spring of 2024, but this may change as such titles like Loki (season two), What If…? (season two), and the all new series, Echo, are seemingly being pushed back. All the previously released dates for all shows mentioned above have been scrapped and are now under “Coming Soon”. Why this is so important is because due to the push back of one project, the rest get affected. This being said, since Echo is paving the way for the characters of DareDevil and The Kingpin for their own solo series. The Hollywood Reporter also announced, “both Cox and D’Onofrio will have pivotal roles in Echo”, which will be strictly connected to DareDevil: Born Again. Meaning in order to have DareDevil back, they must patiently wait for Echo to release for The Devil Of Hell’s Kitchen to be born again.
