Quill and Scroll International Honor Society is for High School Journalists who meet the criteria established by the society. The induction ceremony aims to recognize and reward juniors and seniors who have been in the Advanced Journalism program for at least two years.
The ceremony took place on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Isabella Raimondi ‘26, Vanessa Edwards ‘26, Lilly Sales ‘27, and Liza Ramirez ‘26 were all represented by their teacher Ms. Leonard.
“These four individuals represent our program’s core values, some of these being leadership, integrity, honesty, and professionalism,” said Ms. Leonard.
A large portion of the ceremony introduced the eight core values of journalism at Manchester Township High School: truth, learning, leadership, loyalty, initiative, integrity, judgement, friendship. The core value of truth is the most significant and it defines how essential it is to report with unbiased honesty.
These eight core values were each represented by a candle and previously initiated students represented a different candle. Students presented and defined each value in a short speech before lighting its respective candle.
The Quill and Scroll ceremony was an entertaining event and honored only the students who excelled in their high school publications and have completed superior journalistic work.
