The varsity girls soccer team started their season with a win against Barnegat with a score of 2-1. Since the start, the girls have been on a roll winning five more games and losing five. Their record as of 10/5/2022 is 5-5 and they are 4th in B-South rankings! The girls are out to seek more victories for their season. Coach Casey O’Connor is back again for her second year as the head varsity coach. Helping out Coach O’Connor this season is Assistant Coach Trapp and Coach Fucci. The captions for the season are Brianna Merz (Senior), Abby Peluso (Senior), and Shay Juralewicz (Junior). The girl’s soccer team has five seniors this season and only three newcomers as well as two key players that are out for the season due to injury.

Coach O’Connor states, “Our main goal is to compete in every game, stay consistent in our play, secure a home game for the first round of states, and make the Shore Conference Tournament.” As many of the girls may agree, they are coming for B-South this season and are ready to take on all of the challenges it may include. Senior Captain Brianna Merz states She is ready to lead the girls this season alongside Abby and Shay and take on many new challenges with the team including their journey to take their shot at B-South. With many new players on the girl’s soccer team, they are set for the season. Freshman Madison Cubbison has started every game so far and has scored six goals! The team cannot wait to see what she does for the rest of the season.

All great things for the girls soccer team this year. Good luck with the rest of your season!
