With 2022 being concluded and 2023 on the roll, it is a very exciting time for the movie industry.  Many old classics are making a re-appearance, possibly showing a new trend for the next few years in pop culture. The following list of movies are just some of the films tha’t we can see in the near future and hopefully one of these will be a must watch for you or your friends.

1. The new and upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (February 17th) follows the comically loved Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) in an action packed adventure based on the iconic Marvel comics.

2. Creed III will be coming out on March 3rd, starring Michael B. Jordan (Adonis Creed) and Jonathan Majors (Damien Anderson) standing as the main antagonist and challenge. The most notable difference in this installment being the absence of Sylvester Stallone because he wants to pass the story on to his family. Stallone said of the film, “I wrote. I thought it would be nice to say, ‘Here’s the gesture darling here. Beautiful children, beautiful wife. When I’m long gone, this is you. This is what I made for you.” Here we see Stallone discuss his departure as it being the end of an era and time to let Jordan be the star this time while Stallone enjoys his time with his family putting his Rocky Balboa era to rest.

3. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be released on March 17th, which sees hero Billy Batson (Zachary Levi/Asher Angel) face unforeseen evil in this new DC installment. With the DC timeline in freefall and the cast in general being all over the place, what direction this film aims to take is unknown, however with the new Co-CEOs (James Gunn and Peter Safran) maybe the company will finally have structure, nonetheless, the film is still worth the watch.

4. John Wick: Chapter 4 will be releasing March 24th with John Wick’s (Keanu Reeves) call to adventure being continued with “win or die in single combat”.

5. The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be coming to the big screen in 2023 with many looking forward to its release on April 7th. The overall plot is pretty predictable with it following the premise of the original video games as the two Italian plumbers, Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) jump through sewers and castles to fight Bowser (Jack Black) and rescue Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy).

6. Marvel Studios will release the third and final installment of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5th, with returning characters including Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldaña), Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper), Groot (Vin Diesel), Drax (Dave Bautista), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), and Stakar Ogord Sylvester Styloane). With some new faces joining the MCU, with Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) and High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), the two antagonists of the film. This new installment has many fans excited to see their favorite Guardians return following the events of Avengers: Endgame and how Gamora’s role will be played out. The overall plot is loosely connected to the November release of The Guardians of Galaxy: Holiday Special and how Thor Odinson might somehow make an appearance or be mentioned since he had parted ways with the Guardians during the opening sequence of Thor: Love and Thunder

7. The Fast & Furious franchise will be releasing its tenth installment, Fast X, starring the iconic Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel), as well as the untitled villain (Jason Momoa). With its long span of films has gotten almost comical up to this point. With an eleventh installment being confirmed, many ask where will they take this series from here and at what point is it enough and just end?

8. With the first Into the Spider-Verse film getting so much recognition, production on a second movie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse started and is set to release June 2nd. With recent interest in Spider-Man propelling this movie to the larger Marvel audience, there has been a massive interest in the webbed slinging hero and people just can’t get enough of him. If you were like me, most kids started off with Spider-Man as their first superhero idol, so with an animated special like this, you can expect a very big audience from the mainstream MCU fans to a younger generation. The movie itself, unlike the MCU Spider-Man releases, sees our animated hero, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), who has a very similar origin story to Peter Parker and goes on to travel across the multiverse from great danger whereas the live action MCU adaptation is just now getting to this plot point with Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

9. The new Flash movie is set to come out on June 16th and will hopefully set out to resolve a lot of the issues plaguing the current DC movie timeline. Overall story is unknown, however the casting of Michael Keaton’s definitely a big point of interest. Seeing Michael Keaton suited up once more as the “Caped Crusader” is huge as he is a fan favorite Batman and fans haven’t seen him as the “Dark Knight” since 1992. The current known cast highlights are as follows, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Keaton as Batman, and Ezra Miller as double the Barry Allen (s)

10. There hasn’t been an Indiana Jones movie since 2008, so when the 5th film was announced, Indiana Jones and Dial of Destiny, many longtime fans were ecstatic. The aging Harrison Ford’s role is to be questioned and how they will explain Indiana’s disappearance from the main scene will be very interesting.  Ford’s opinions on the film are as stated, “I always wanted to do it,”. Considering this information and also how he has expressed that this is his last time portraying the character, it is reasonable to believe he will be very anxious to get back in the role as soon as possible.

This is a list of possibly the most anticipated movies coming out in the next two to five months from now and will hopefully revive the current film industry which seems to be dominated by Marvel and DC.
